Whenever I used to hear the words fashion and show jammed together, I also used to hear the words wanky and pretentious. Now, I was lucky enough to be invited to The Shoreditch Fashion Show 2013 earlier in the year and I can tell you now, wanky and pretentious never even crossed my mind.
I need to get the point across that it wasn’t just a fashion show.
There was really cool modern, alternative live music from up and coming local bands and DJ’s, art from striving London artists and street food vendors for those that had the munchies. I was definitely pleasantly surprised to say the least.
Now, as you know, I’m no “sell out”, so I’ll never put my name to anything crap just to get something out of it. So, what I’m going to do now is tell you all how cool the October one is going to be and that tickets are quite good value for what you get.
Curated by the über creative team at Offbeat, you’ll be able to see some of London’s best emerging talent in the fashion industry produced by Vivid Fashion Group. In addition to live music from fresh sounding, local bands and DJ’s there’ll also be live graffiti, blow dry bars and photo shoots from Batiste for guests. There will also be plenty of local street food vendors on hand too.
The running theme behind the show is “Through the dark, light shall appear” that focusses on how East London has become such an epicentre for creative talent in the world of art, music, film and fashion. So, coming down will definitely show your support for creative local talent!
