Guy Not Exactly Excited To Be Set Up With Girl Only Described As “Bubbly”

Frustrated Asian guy

Singleton Eric, a 26 year-old sales manager from Lewisham is being set up with a girl named Judy described only as “bubbly” by a couple of close friends. We caught up with  Eric to see how he feels.

“At first I was really excited” Eric says with a smile before adding.” My friends hadn’t really told me anything about her, but because I’ve known them for years I definitely consider them such great judges of character”.

With the date looming Eric started to become a little more inquisitive about Judy. “I’ve been extremely busy with work and stuff and haven’t really had the chance to ask my friends about her” Eric claims. “I’ve only just been sent a couple of pics today and she looks really happy and smiley which is important. But, when I asked her personality my friends told me she was “bubbly”…….. And that was it”.

What does “bubbly” even mean? Annoyingly full of energy to the point where just want to punch them in the face? Repeatedly? We ask Eric what his thoughts are.

“Look, to me “bubbly” has generally meant “overweight”. After looking over the pics of Judy I realised they were all headshots and nothing from the neck down”. Eric tells us before we ask whether that’s an issue. “It’s not really an issue, I just wish people would be honest and upfront. In the past the “bubbly” friend has never been anyone’s first choice. I mean, if they’re intelligent, funny or athletic – surely you’d start with one of those as an adjective before starting with “bubbly”, right? The problem is that the date’s tonight and I can’t back out of it. But, hey at least I know never to trust my friends again when it comes to being set up”.

Well, good luck, Eric and well done for giving her a chance. Maybe start the date off with a glass bubbly perhaps?

Don’t forget, this is satire and totally written to laugh at ourselves and the kinds of colourful personalities we deal with when dating. It’s not written to offend anyone. If you did laugh and can relate – don’t forget to share it on Facebook and Twitter using the share buttons. Thanks for reading as always, Jordi.
