Aren’t We All Just Looking for the Same Thing?

I’ve always been picky when it comes to women. That’s just how I am. It’s not that I’m shallow in any way, it’s just that I know what I’m looking for in somebody. I mean, at the end of the day, aren’t we all just looking for the same thing?

Ok, so not all of us want or feel the need to end up with anyone at all. I’m very happily single at the moment and it would take someone in the mould of a lovechild between Natalie Portman and Jessica Alba to make me want to give that all up. I also use the term “looking” loosely. I’m certainly not actively looking either.

Anyway, one of my best friends is married, has 3 kids, the mortgage, the car, the career (you get the picture).

We were out for a drink the other day when he picked up his pint, looked at me and asked, “Jords, what is it that are you’re looking for exactly?”
To which I replied, “first of all, I’m not looking for anything, but anyway, aren’t we all just looking for the same thing at the end of the day?”

He looks at me puzzled to which I elaborate with, “come on, think about it”.

Here’s What I Think

(Cough Cough)

We all want someone beautiful inside and out.

We all want someone intelligent.

We all want someone with a great sense of humour.

We all want someone sexy.

We all want someone with ambition and drive.

We all want someone a little bit nuts.

We all want someone who laughs at our jokes.

We all want someone who wants to rip our clothes off unpredictably at any moment.

We all want someone who prefers David Bowie over Dane Bowers.

We all want someone who isn’t too short……….. Or too tall.

We all want someone who isn’t easily offended.

We all want someone to wake up next to that has no hesitations in kissing us no matter how bad our breath is.

We all want someone who’ll be just as happy watching “Commando” as they are “Schindler’s List”.

We all want someone who is an absolute firecracker in the sack.

We all want someone who holds our hand in public with pride.

We all want someone who will happily eat cereal for dinner every now and then.

We all want someone who’ll stick their tongue out at us during a serious moment to ease the mood.

We all want someone who’ll pick up a baseball bat when they hear a strange noise in the house.

We all want someone who doesn’t care about how much money we earn.

We all want someone as cool as Fonzie.

We all want someone who won’t keep asking us “who’s that guy” every 5 minutes whilst watching a movie.

We all want someone who will throw us a surprise birthday party (and jump out of an oversize giant cake).

We all want someone to get absolutely hammered with.

We all want someone who will pull our hair back whilst vomiting after getting absolutely hammered.

We all want someone we can lay on a porch swing with for hours, not say a word to each other, but walk away feeling like we’ve had the best conversation of our lives.

I know having all of this rolled into the same person is tough to find. Not impossible. Just tough.

I know everybody’s different and we’re always able to adapt when it comes to relationships, but surely we shouldn’t compromise that much to end up with someone who really isn’t what we want to the point that it goes into a decline and we end up resenting that person.

So, aren’t we all just looking for the same thing? Someone amazing? I guess I’ll just keep waiting for that Jessica Alba/Natalie Portman lovechild to swan in and sweep me off my feet. Sigh.

┬áSTOP! Thanks so much for reading, please don’t forget to share this post via Facebook and Twitter below. Thanks again, Jordi.
